Entelechy: Internal Force of Development

It's not about talent. It's about conscious striving to develop, reveal abilities, and achieve more.

What person demonstrates impressive learning results, strives for development, and has strong motivation?

One who has something difficult to express in words.

Equality and Reality

We can talk about equality and that everyone deserves success. But if we look at reality, some do better, others worse.

Among many factors there's what's sometimes called "divine spark" or even genius, but they mean something else.

I can often immediately determine if a person has this or not, because I possess it myself.

We're talking about entelechy.

What is Entelechy

Entelechy, according to Aristotle's philosophy, is an internal force that contains the goal, potential, and ability to turn possibilities into real achievements.

This is energy that helps a person reveal themselves using appropriate tools and methods.

Some people are more predisposed to direct this energy toward creating robots, programs, or mechanisms, others — toward any other creative acts.

And the stronger this striving, the easier mastering methods of self-expression becomes.

This Isn't Talent

Entelechy isn't about chance or talent.

It's about conscious (or becoming conscious) striving to develop, reveal abilities, and achieve more.

It manifests in everyone differently, but it's what makes us unique.

For Polaris

The meaning of this term may differ depending on context. For us it's a certain internal energy that can be organically and naturally realized with the tools we use.

And not always is this a synonym for talent or giftedness. It's something more fundamental, existing independently of knowledge.

How and Why

Oddly enough, we also try to pay attention to this in classes, teaching students to understand not just "how?" but to ask questions "why?" and "what for?"
