A child comes for training, already having experience attending various robotics or programming classes.

I immediately ask several basic questions and, in most cases, get no answers.

Fantastic? No, reality that I often have to deal with. The question arises: who's to blame and what to do?


My Path to the Answer

To investigate this phenomenon, I spent years implementing various methods, motivation systems, testing different approaches to conducting classes.

This led me to create my own education system — and this is my answer to "What to do?"

But the question "Why does this happen?" occupied me no less.

I worked with large network clubs, participated in competitions, my students won prizes. So this whole children's robotics kitchen is well known to me from the inside.


Entertainment Instead of Education

The thing is, very often this has almost nothing to do with robotics, because the lesson concept contains no scientific methodological base, and their format is aimed more at entertainment.

Balance Between Leisure and Learning

The main difficulty is finding the balance between leisure and learning. This is really very difficult and often even teachers themselves can't find this balance or lack the appropriate competencies.

Roughly speaking:

  • If you load too much — it will be boring and difficult
  • If you just entertain — it will be boring, but later, and science will definitely leave the chat

Harmful Consequences

And such classes can be truly harmful because they form people's distorted understanding of technical disciplines.

The "I Already Know Everything" Effect

Moreover, children really think they've learned and there will be nothing new.

"Robotics" even sounds complex, even adjusted for children's format. And learning this is difficult and teaching is also difficult, you need to constantly learn yourself.


Why Does This Work?

But this isn't difficult to sell:

✓ Looks impressive ✓ Sounds relevant ✓ Parents don't want to figure out technical details

Outsiders don't particularly want to understand this field, so no questions arise.

This is life's truth. And it's normal. Not everyone should become an engineer.

This is also life's truth. Real technical education requires:

  • Time
  • Effort
  • Proper methodology
  • Qualified teacher
  • The child's own desire to learn, not just be entertained

  • What methodology is used?
  • What specifically will the child learn?
  • Does the teacher have technical education?
  • How is progress measured?

Don't be afraid to seem boring. We're talking about your child's education.
